Alfred Dunhill Links I put these two up early doors as I liked the prices and was happy to swerve the four returning heroes who take a huge chunk out of the market though that has lessened slightly now. The huge fly in the ointment will be the weather forecast - it is set to be horrendous at times with ex hurricanes moving in and I wouldn't be at all surprised if we only got three rounds in. Lagergren was a no brainer pick to me @ 90/1 ew with event form in the past of 4/4/3/2 and he hasn't played awfully since that playoff defeat to Rory in the Irish Open (I'm still smarting!) Jacob Olesen looks like a fine young links player - won the Amateur last year and has had some showings in the Open - we backed him FRL @ 250/1 for this years!. Add in a 3rd at the Trump International links and the 150/1 seems fairly reasonable. Of course the wind could blow the whole thing wide open - I've also had small ew bets on these two in the Top Continental Europe market @ 25/1 and 40/1 respectively - seems reasonable considering the performances of the home contingency.
Sanderson Farms Garrick Higgo - I won't lie was hoping for a bit bigger than 45/1 but his credentials are there for all to see. He is quite a prolific winner when on song including two wins in low grade PGA events which is what we have this week. He was 3rd here on debut and 16th the year after though m/c last year when out of form. He usually signals his wins and was 7th lto in the Procore - that may have been better than it looks as he was paired with Scheffler (who went on to win) in the final round. A quick side note - I've had my weekly FRL bet on del Solar around the 200/1 ew mark - he has made me a good few quid in this market the past twelve months and you never know when he will hit
KFT Compliance Solutions Championship
The last event before the Tour Championship and we move to a new course in Oklahoma which is always tricky but there is one player who knows the course like the back of his hand and that is Kyle Westmoreland. This is where I always use the caveat - just because he knows it doesn't mean he can play it well and especially in tournament conditions but @ 150/1 e/w he's worth a shout. More miss than hit he won in Bogota in February, then 4 missed cuts before a 4th and then absolutely nothing until 9th on his last start. He is on the cusp of earning his PGA tour card so pressure may come to bear but at the odds am happy to have a go.
