First to admit it has been a frustrating run of late the places just about keep you ticking over but it’s the wins that provide the profit plus the trades help. Higgo has now let us down twice when in a perfect position to win though traded him low. Lagergren was foiled by a miracle shot by Rory and again traded very low. Add in having a big bet on Donaldson only to see him go and win next time out is a prime example of what I termed Premature Tipulation years ago.

In South Africa this week we have the Players Championship and Hennie du Plessis has been put in as short as 5/1 favourite – to my mind one of the worse prices I have ever seen. Admittedly he returned from an 18 month absence to romp home a few weeks ago BUT prior to that he had only won one three round Vodacom event in a playoff in 2017 out of 190 events!!

If you like betting shorter prices surely the better value is in Japan this week in the Taiheyo Masters where Ryo Ishikawa goes for a fifth win in the event and with current form of 3/5/7 is surely a better betting proposition. He is remarkably still only 34 and has 20 career wins in his homeland (just a few more than Hennie) yet is double the price around 12/1.

In the DP Tour World Championship I like Andy Sullivan as a man in very good form 15/4/7 who has some good course form down the years with a best of 2nd ten years ago. The problem is how would you play him as he simply rarely wins but seems to trade low? I reckon the best way is what I have done – backed him around 150+ on Betfair and will put up some lays around 1/10th of that. Last week he trade @ 9.0 and the week before 6.8 so there could be some mileage in it. Saves me shouting at the computer screen come Sunday morning.

In Bermuda earlier in the week I suggested Ben Silverman 100/1 and Adam Svensson 150/175 and I’m glad I went in early as they have been well backed. They have a lot in common – both Canadians in their 30’s (that was coincidental) both have won the Abaco Bahamas event that last years Bermuda winner Campos had also won and both need a big finish to keep their cards next year. Very little course form with one start between them but they have some very good form at all the correlating courses everyone knows. One player I will be keeping a close eye on in running is veteran Jonathan Byrd who has shown a few signs of form of late and is a “good fit” oh and don’t forget FRL Cristobal del Cliff Man Solar though he’s down to 200/1 this week – god knows why!!

An event that starts Friday so still plenty of time to get your bets on, it interests me a lot as a betting proposition because the top four players are taking out 50% of the market and I don't think
