As the crow flies Ffos Las isn’t that far from me yet it would be quicker to get to Auteuil, if I could go! One bet from the Welsh track and two from France, nothing big, just a few e/w fancies

2.43 Ffos Las Commit or Quit

I backed this last night at 12/1 and 14/1 and put it up last night at 11/1 as I could see it being cut. It has indeed been chopped but that is also due to a couple of non runners. I make no bones about putting it up last night – after all these are Free tips! As a £60k purchase after finishing 2nd in an Irish point I can see it producing more over fences than it ever achieved over hurdles

12.50 Auteuil Upsong 18/1 e/w

A very difficult handicap to solve with 16 runners but I give this one a chance from the bottom of the handicap. The horse changed owner and trainer this year and they immediately sent it chasing which hasn’t really worked although to be fair I have no idea what the jockey was doing setting sail for home way too early at Vittel lto and got collared going over the last. Two runs over C/D last Autumn caught my eye, 3rd of 16 in a similar 16 runner handicap and then 4th of 12 in a Listed hurdle where it was beaten only 8l by James du Berlais. That horse is now rated 74.5 – Upsong runs off just 58 today.

4.20 Auteuil Ecrins 15/2 e/w

A race full of “ifs buts and maybes” with many horses returning from a long absence or having their second run after one. Ecrins is one of those who defied an 18 month absence to win comfortably at Aix les Bains in June. Two years ago he won three on the bounce including a very similar race here at Auteuil.
