Well August was a very subdued start to things - there really isn't a huge amount of French National Hunt racing to have a crack at but September has started with a bang. Only 15 bets have been sent out to subscribers but to recommended stakes and prices they are £935 up from stakes of £1010, and ROI of 95%. Prices on the whole have been holding up well and there are still a few places available to anyone interested - simply get in touch.
What do you get for the money - well I have copied and pasted below what gets sent to subscribers - I have taken the examples of the nice couple of winners in the last few days (well why wouldn't I!) 3.45 Auteuil Kami Kaze £25 ew 12/1 – my price is 9/1 don’t take lower than that (B365 14/1) Fences £25 ew 25/1 - my price is 14/1 don’t take lower than that
Kami Kaze is getting a bit long in the tooth now at aged 10 but has run well in three handicaps here this year finishing 6/5/1 – however the final run saw him subsequently disqualified for a prohibitive substance. Usually a horse will be raised at least 2kg for a win round Auteuil but he has only been put up 1kg despite not getting the prize money. As a horse that has crossed the line first in 5 of 43 races there is still some juice in the price Fences – may be a bit of a leap of faith based on its runs @ Pau over the Winter and a heavily eased run on the flat 12 days ago, but I think the books are taking a chance based on its two runs here in the Autumn when it finished 2nd and 1st in two similar races. If it can reproduce that form back at a course it obviously likes then the price is simply too big. RESULT - Fences Won at an SP of 12/1 but was 16/1 for most of the day, Kami Kaze was 3rd @ 12/1 4.52 Craon – the big listed Cross Country – going double handed Doralou des Bordes £60 ew 7/1 My price is 5/1 don’t take lower than that Bomari £50 win 4/1 My price is 7/2 don’t take lower than that
We were on Doralou when winning here in June and he now steps up in trip and class. A fine and consistent cross country chaser which in 9 runs has won 4, been placed in 4 and had an unseat on only run @ Le Lion D’Angers Its 4 runs here have yielded finishes of 1/3/2/1 so clearly is quite at home on this tricky track, the only reason it isn’t a bigger bet is the unknown trip.
Bomari we know will stay the trip as it won this race last year but hasn’t been running well so far this year until a victory lto @ Le Lion D’Angers. It’s a saver bet really as on his day he is more than capable of winning this race again and in my mind is the main danger to Doralou. RESULT - Doralou des Bordes Won with Bomari 2nd - the SP's were the prices I sent 7/1 and 4/1
