This weeks golf suggestions
The European Tour moves on to Cyprus and I have decided I don’t really want to guess – I could throw loads of darts at loads of players who it should suit and my assumption is that it will play similar to last weeks resort course in Italy, but it’s only a guess so what’s the point? The only player I have backed is by way of maintaining a bit of faith in Oliver Wilson now that he has finally made a cut. It really is a fairly minimal investment at 500/1 e/w and 800 plus on Betf

20 years of betting memories part 1
Witten below are some of my favourite betting memories from the last 20 years of SBI – these fall into the category of other sports and specials, will do a golf one when I get the time. Some of the exact details and money involved are a little hazy but are roughly true.
I love the challenge of betting on Marathons when I get the chance which sadly isn’t very often, the biggest priced winner was Meb Keflezhigi at 100/1 but my favourite has to be Catherine Ndereba in the 200

A few short musings
I have to admit the last few weeks on the golf has been pretty damn awful, although I haven't had that many bets they have been pretty shocking. This week again we have either limited course form or none at all so am sticking to my guns of having limited pre event bets.
In the Zozo Championship Phil Mickelson caught my eye last night @ 140 on Betfair. In theory the course shouldn't suit but we are talking about Mickelson here and he just does things his way. In recent weeks h

Time to Ring the Changes
When you go to bed on a Sunday night and you can’t face putting the weeks results onto your spreadsheets you know you have had a bad week. I won’t dwell on it – it was bloody awful. Then when you wake up early on a Monday morning and think I really can’t face it you know there’s a problem to rectify. I have come to hate the Monday/Tuesday scrabble for prices, seeing things you probably would bet at the price but knowing you won’t get on, only to generally see better prices by

Want a new bookmaker who will lay your bets?
I can’t remember the last time I actually did a bookmaker review – largely because to be honest it really isn’t worth the effort, all the big boys, you can read endless reviews about them and it’s all rather pointless – they are all very much like each other – show an inkling of knowledge within a week you may as well delete your bookmark in google, it would be about as much use as that bookmark you made about that water bungalow on a remote Maldivian Island. UPDATE This revi

Shriners Hospital Open, plus Champions and Korn Ferry picks
The PGA tour moves further West so later nights this week – I must admit I prefer the East coast events for betting times but there we go. I am going to play it cautious to begin with and have backed Zach Johnson mainly win only @ 85 average on Betfair with a view to trade, plus a small amount at 66/1 e/w. Ben Coley sums up a lot of why I like him, in the past few weeks we have seen Cink and Garcia win on the PGA tour for the first time in a few years after winning a Major an

Marvellous Malnati, who wants a 1000/1 Wentworth pick?
Last week was looking incredibly poor by late Sunday afternoon, all the horses had either placed or lost leaving a level week in the book. I had a feeling it was going to be a bad week on the golf when the £200 I had invested on Langasque was down the tubes after just a handful of holes. On the PGA tour all players had missed the cut and I put up Malnati at the cut mark but even he had gone nowhere on moving day. I know I’m supposed to be predicting things but even I didn’t e

Sanderson Farms Half Way Pick - Maybe Malnati?
I will confess the three players I have backed for this so far have not been great - they all missed the cut, but I will have one last roll of the dice. Malnati won this back in 2015 (his only PGA tour title to date) and at this point he sat t8th and six shots back, he is in a similar position now - the same number of shots back but he has eleven players in front of him.
The two winners of normal tour events in this "new season" Hudson Swafford and Stewart Cink hadn't won in

Auteuil and Ffos Las free betting tips
As the crow flies Ffos Las isn’t that far from me yet it would be quicker to get to Auteuil, if I could go! One bet from the Welsh track and two from France, nothing big, just a few e/w fancies 2.43 Ffos Las Commit or Quit I backed this last night at 12/1 and 14/1 and put it up last night at 11/1 as I could see it being cut. It has indeed been chopped but that is also due to a couple of non runners. I make no bones about putting it up last night – after all these are Free tip
