Yes - we will bet on anything! This seems a big price for a man who has definitely had some sort of approach is British and is probably about the right age to enter a long term contract - something a lot of the other favourites do not have in their favour.

Richard Sterne
It might seem odd to pick a player who has missed his last 3 cuts but in each of the last 2 years the young South African has struggled at this time of year - then in 2003 he came here and finished 6th and last year a 23rd place finish sparked off a win two starts later. His form from earlier in the season suggests that if on song he could compete this week at a generous price.

Notah Begay
This is a bit like a seasoned old handicapper dropping in grade to a selling race after being injured! Begay has however made his last 2 cuts on the PGA tour and had a good putting week in Texas, he has also at least played here once before - back in 1998 when he finished 2nd - the price just seems way too big.

This was the tournament we had in mind for Brehaut which we mentioned a couple of weeks ago, although his form has not been great the last couple of weeks at least his price has held up. Forest Oaks just seems to have brought out the best in him since Love remodelled it and it moved to an end of season slot with finishes of5th and 8th compared to 2 mc's and a 61st!

We were hoping Moore didn't play brilliantly last week as we have had him pencilled in for this event since his 2nd place finish in Canada because this was the scene of his impressive finish as an amateurof t24th - with that experience he should go well this week.

Not the sort of market to get heavily involved in but Woods' record in Presidents Cup is interesting - he stands at 8 won 7 lost - but this hides the fact that in 6 4somes he has not won a single one!

Aaron Baddeley
We have a theory that the young Australian could go well this week as he has certain conditions in his favour - he is playing a par 70 course in Texas and the wind could well be blowing as the course is hit by the tail end of a hurricane. He has played well here before - shooting 62 twice on his way to finishing 5th in 2003 and 4 weeks ago was 4th in a similarly weak field in Reno.

This could easily be our only bet in the golf this week but it is a strong one.The veteran returns to his beloved Bermuda greens but he has surprisingly played well the last 2 weeks with finishes of 11th and 5th. He certainly knows how to play the course - opening with a 64 in each of the last 2 times he has played, we are confident of a big finish either this week or in the very near future.

We weren't going to bother having a bet as it is not the most interesting event in the world but getting odds of 12/1 about what in reality is an 8/1 shot has to be worthwhile.

We have Brehaut marked down for a tournament coming up soon but at these odds feel we have to back him this week - just in case he peaks too soon! His current form is exceptional - his last 5 finishes being 6/3/c/12/4, and his course/event form is certainly solid enough - we believe he should be a lot lower in the betting.

The LPGA returns to normal this week and it will be interesting to see how the winners and losers from the Solheim Cup play. We will take a small interest in a player just starting out in her career (she was a good amateur) who has only had 3 starts in the last 2 months but made the top 15 on each occasion

The "old timers" seem to be having thier way on tour at the moment with wins in the last 2 weeks for Browne and Calc - both in their 40's, and in those last 2 weeks Sindelar has manged to top 5 finish as well. This is one of his local tournaments and he has started well the last few years and now he has some good form he maybe able to carry it through to the weekend.

Everyone thought Curtis was a one hit wonder when he won the Open and it was always going to take a long time to recover from the pessure that win exerted. However in the last few months his game has got a lot better - returning 2 top 4 finishes, but also on this course last year - if you ignore his 3rd rd 81 he would have been contending for the title.

Scott Dunlap
We don't like normally backing defending champions but Dunlap has to be an exception to the rule.He has a habit of playing certain events well - eg Bell South Classic, and he won the Peru Open 3 years running and also generally in Canada. On the Canadian front he managed a top 25 in the PGA at the weekend and if he can perform anywhere near that level he could win back to back titles.

We will risk a small bet on one of the few with course experience - the young Swede was 3rd here last year in a Nordic League event a few weeks before finishing 2nd in a Challenge tour event in Sweden. He is in good form with his last 4 cuts made on the Challenge tour and a 7th in his home town event last week.

Peter Tomasulo
Tomasulo won on the Nationwide Tour in Canada last week to follow up finishes of 3rd and 1st on the Canadian Tour in previous weeks. That tour is weak but Tomasulo is not your average player on it - he had a very good college career and being only 24 has far more potential than most who play in Canada. Hopefully as last week Stan James have made a rick!

In recent years Fasth has shown a liking for playing on German soil - his last 2 events there this year have resulted in a 1st and a 4th place finish and in 2003 he was 4th in the Deutsche Bank (the event he has just won) and then 3rd here. One word of warning - be prepared for a rollercoaster side!

This seems a big price for a player who has finished in the top 4 in 2 of his last 4 events - admittedly in weaker fields but this is not the strongest of the year. Some of his best form has been on par 70 courses and he has just celebrated his 40th birthday (for those who believe in these things!)

The young Swede finished in the top 20 in the Scandinavian Masters and then turned pro and in his first tournament on the Challenge Tour recorded a top 10 finish. He had a solid record as a college player in the States and was part of the Swedish team to finish 3rd at the World Amateur Champs in October. He definitely has the potential to record a win in his homeland on this tour

Pierre Fulke
Fulke seems to be regaining his best form with recent finishes of 14/5/c/6 - possibly in time for a tilt at another Ryder Cup place - maybe its one of those things that will motivate someone who admits he finds it hard to get himself motivated. His course form is solid if unspectacular with 5 cuts made but the price seems large for a man of his potential.
