There are two reasons to support Mallinger this week - firstly the local Californian loves playing in his home state and secondly he does well in qualifying events. He was medalist at the Canadian Q school,Monday qualified for the Buick Inv and made the cut,he won his Stage 1 event and was 3rd in Stage 2 all in California (he even qualified for the US Open this year) |

We thought it best to give these bets joint comments to save us repeating ourselves as there is a common theme as to why they have all been selected.
Basically in each of the last 3 seasons the winner of the Q school final has shown one common characteristic - that is they all finished the full season between 16th and 20th on the final Challenge Tour rankings. This position actually entitles them to a Euro tour card for the following season - however by coming here they have the chance to play for a better card that will give them more starts. The key however is that there is much less pressure on them to perform over the 6 gruelling rounds as they already have a position on the main tour for next season. We were going to leave James out as he has performed poorly here before - but sods law would mean he would win! |
