Looking at this weeks Honda we are quite astounded at the low prices on offer about the favourites which is obviously good news for us! We will stick with Kuchar after last weeks 3rd as last year Coceres and Weekley followed up a good week in Mexico with one here.
Last year he was 39th here with 2 really good rounds of 68 and we have to remember that this was the scene of his win - albeit on a different course. With someone in such good form we really don't understand this price as we cannot see him suffering a reaction to last week because he never really got into serious contention. |

In all honesty the big guns will probably dominate this event but at least we have a chance to play without the top 4 courtesy of Skybet. One that might be overpriced is young Chinese player Zhang who managed 4 wins on the Ladies Japanese tour last season and who might be able to acclimatise to Singapore. |

One final bet in India on one of the many Kumars playing. In his last 14 starts on the main Asian tour in India Kumar has managed 6 top 10 finishes including an 8th here in 2000. He was also 3rd at the DLF Masters in 02 and last year was 4th - we just think there is a bit of value in this top 10 price as he has also won a couple of Indian tour events recently but we aren't prepared to risk much more. |

In trying to find a couple of locals to back we came across Singh who won the DLF Masters on this course back in 2002 when he was 2nd after rd 1 and 1st after rd 2, also in that year he was 6th after rd 1 in the Hero Honda round here. He has an early tee time and we often see locals come to the fore with an early low score and he seems best equipped for this. |

We just cannot blot out the performance of Lickliter at the Q school in Florida at the end of last year and this is the first time he has a chance to play again in this state.
Last year he was 13th here after a poor opening round when he was badly out of form. He often plays poorly on the West coast swing yet this season he has played it quite well - especially when you consider he has just become father of twins and we are expecting a big week. |

We wanted to put Marino up as a bet last week but 28/1 was just too short but it was no surprise to see him finish 2nd so we are keen to back him at double the odds this week. That was his second top 5 finish of the season and he has made his other 4 cuts. He had a solid finish here last season - 7th heading into Sunday he finally finished 20th and he has more experience of this course than most having played it several times on the Florida mini tours with a certain degree of success. |

It won't have escaped many peoples attention that Weekley should have won this event last season missing a 3 foot putt for the win and then losing out in the 4 man playoff. He made up for it very soon with a win at Harbour Town - interestingly both these courses are Nicklaus ones and he also finished 3rd at Annandale - yup - another Nicklaus one - it maybe coincidence but we don't think so. He has also been in really solid form this season and we think he should be much closer to being favourite this week. |

We are gradually weaning ourselves off betting on Asian tour events as it is becoming clear for some reason we really do struggle in this part of the world. However we feel that Webster is worth a bet this week on this Arnold Palmer course with plenty of water about - and the reason is his 2 wins in Italy and Portugal came on Palmer courses with plenty of water! OK its a hunch but the price of a 2 time winner in this field is a little too big anyway in this field and his 7th in the HSBC reads really well. |

Brian Gay is another short but accurate player - Greg Norman seems to have designed the course to take out major advances in technology so this is the week these guys can come to the fore. This is the only type of course where the tour veteran is likely to excell. He does have a tendency to fade when he gets in contention - as he did here last season when 7th coming into Sunday and this year alreadyhe has been 3rd after round 1 of the FBR and 6th after 2 rounds at the Sony - so be prepared for a rough ride! |

We liked this event last year coming so close with Coceres and will be concentrating on this event this week. Kuchar fits the bill in many respects this week - a short hitting accurate player who goes well in the wind - looking at last years result these were the attributes required. His form is really soild this year when you consider the poor quality of the field and a top 20 finish last season with a very solid final round 66 makes him worth a decent bet. |

For a man who not that long ago was playing Ryder Cup golf Riley has really slipped down the rankings (mainly due to spending time with his young family) but we think he will go well this week. Last season he was 6th here and then 3rd in the other AT&T sponsored event before losing his form but he had already secured his card. The top Indian players will have a definite advantage this week - not because of hot and steamy temperatures as it will be simply warm - but because of the nature of the course and the greens. He has a superb record at the course with finishes of 4/4/5/6/1/11 plus two other wins in his home country. He has one start this season in Panama on the Nationwide Tour when he was 2nd on a very difficult course - form which reads well in this quality of field. Our one slight concern is the traffic accident death which is still hanging over his head but if he can put that to one side at home he has a huge chance. |
