This is one of those rare bets where to be honest we would have 5pts ew if we could only get the money on!
Ndereba has run in 17 marathons - she finished 6th in the first and then has had 16 straight podium finishes! and of those she has had 8 wins including in Osaka last year. The last 3 Major Champs marathons has seen her finish with a gold and 2 silver medals. In our eyes considering the opposition the price is totally and utterly wrong. |

We think the Japanese will finally win a medal and in their favourite event they probably have the best chance.
Shimihara has only run in 6 marathons - top 3 in her first 5 in Japan (including a 3rd to Ndereba in Oasaka last year) and then was 5th in the Boston Marathon. We think she stands a better chance than some of her compatriots and has proved she can run in the heat |

The last time Japan held a World Championship athletics contest in the summer home runners won the mens marathon event and were 2nd in the ladies. It all boils down to the hot humid conditions the runners will face even at 7am and we think the Japanese will have a huge advantage. It is quite difficult to choose exactly which home runners will go well but we will side with Osaki who is actually from Osaka and will have huge support and Ogata who has at least won a Major marathon and was 3rd in the World Champs in 05 |
