Sometimes it is a good idea to jump on the bandwagon with big market moves in these events and Miss York is the first steamer - already cut from 40/1 into 9/1 at Paddy Power and from 40/1 at Bet365.

It would appear that she is being well supported in the phone vote (if it can be believed) and could get fast tracked into the last 12 + the phone votes count as one judge in the final. What interests us is her Iraqi background and wish to do peace work between countries - we are not sure what affect this could have but she is worth betting now at the odds.

The only way we could bet in this event is without the 2 favourites who are 2/1 and 5/1. Palmer enters our calculations on the basis that he can score low - a pre-requisite round here, is in good form - 3rd lto at the NEC and last year led after round 1 eventually finishing 17th.

This price is way too big for a player who has had 6 top 7 finishes in her last 9 starts and can boast some very useful course form with top 10 finishes in 4 of the last 5 years. She is not one to trust implicitly with getting the job done under pressure - last week was testimony to that when she doubled the last having been tied for the lead, however at these generous odds she has to be included for this week.

A rather obvious choice given his outstanding course form here in recent years. His current form is solid - he won on the Sniors tour by 8 shots just 2 weeks ago and only missed the cut in Germany by 1 having bogeyed 5 of his first 6 holes. He would love to be the first player to win on the Senior and main tour in one season and this provides his best opportunity

An unusual selection but maybe not if you know a few snippets of info.He has quite often played this tournament on an exemption with a 13th place finish being the best he has achieved - the reason being - he lives near here and his father was head teaching professional. Not enough to warrant a bet maybe but the Spaniard has just finished 2nd and 1st at altitude in 2 events on the Alps Tour.Top 10 seems the best option though we couldn't put you off the 500/1 outright.

A second rate Challenge Tour event with the top 32 players from that tour playing in the Rolex and we have picked a player who has played on the European tour all season - but he has hardly made a cut! BUT he was a very good player on the American collegiate cricuit who turned pro just before the Q school last year. In his first round he shot a 79 and followed it with a 61 in round 2 and went on to gain the 12th card.Admittedly he has been a disappointment on the main tour but this is a huge drop in class and back in May he did go and play an event on the Nordic Tour - and won!

When looking at this tournament do not be put off by backing big priced outsiders - they often perform well. Purdy played well at the US Open - finishing t5th with only a spell of 6 bad holes in round 2 undoing him. When you look back at his last 4 top 10's (including his win) they have all come on par 70 courses. He was also 2nd last year at the par 71 MCI - runner-up to Cink who went on to win this last year - interestingly Love also plays Harbour Town very well and has a good record at Firestone.

Coltart is not normally a player we would consider betting - but each player has their price in a poor field and this is too big.The last time he played an event like this was in Madeira when he was 7th - that broke a long run of missed cuts going back to (funnily enough) last years Russian Open.Although he finished well down the field last year he was 2nd for putting and finished 4th the year before. Add in his recent form of 6th at the European Open and top 25 in Germany and he is overpriced.
