Slocum is on record as saying he loves the course at Quail Hollow as it really suits his strengths and he has fired some pretty decent rounds here and if he can string 4 together this week he could add to his tour victory. He has made his last 6 straight cuts including a fine debut at the Masters where his 1st and final rounds were really solid so he is not exactly out of form |

We picked her last year for this and we were a bit gutted when she entered the final round in the lead but fell away badly. We guess the reason for the pick remains the same - Sjodin went to Uni here and can sleep in her own bed as this where she bases herself in the States. We will go for a small bet in 2 markets as to be honest she has been in pretty poor form this season but might be able to turn it on at "home" |

It is very difficult to catch Allred on a going week as he is very hit and miss but the big hitter definitely has a penchant for Kinderlou Forest where he was 6th last season and then 2nd in the Q schoolon his way to getting his PGA tour card. He hasn't really taken advantage of his PGA card so far this year and finds himself back on the Nationwide Tour but it wouldn't be a great shock to see him contend here. |

Aussie Price has always a great talent and finally broke through on the Nationwide Tour by winning at the Livermore in an event where he was 2nd last year. After that second last year he came to South Georgia and was 5th entering the final round before fading to 13th so with the win now under his belt we think this price is probably a bit large for a player who went to college in South Georgia and has played this course several times before. |

Some of you might remember we picked Mads when he won his maiden tour event in Spain last year and its interesting that he has drifted again to a very backable price. The reason he has slipped so far is a run of poor form but he returned to a semblance of form in Portugal last time with a top 15 much the same as he did before his win last season and before his other good finishes. |

OK - time to go in with guns blazing - Glover this week matches the profile of something we really look for in a decent bet.
Its a hometown gig for Glover and he has performed with credit here twice before being 10th in 04 and 4th in 06. He has had a pretty poor start to the year but in recent weeks he has shown his best level of form though he has faltered over the weekend and we are expecting a great week from Glover to prove finally his win wasn't a fluke. |

Another bet that on current form we would not necessarily consider and its not just because of his win in this event in 2005 that we have picked him but another factor has come to light which makes him a solid pick. This week Hanson will be appearing with a new caddie - he has done this twice in recent years - latterly when 2nd in Abu Dhabi and before that - very interestingly in the Spanish Open when emerging victorious - he obviously likes change! |

Based on the last couple of results in Europe this price is probably about right however the 2 top 30 finishes in the PGA make us think it is too big. Apart from a good performance at the Bob Hope as defending champion Hoffman has had a pretty appalling year with 8 missed cuts on the bounce until he came to Houston a few weeks ago and finished 6th so we are hoping he can kick on from there. We will be cautious in this weeks Byron Nelson as this is a very different event with Cottonwood Valley being dropped and the TPC course undergoing a pretty big makeover then event history might not count for a huge deal. Marion has drifted out in price after a few poorer efforts but he played badly at those events last season as well before bouncing back to form. With 2 top 4 finishes already this season then we think the win is round the corner and this price is a little on the big side. |

Probably the main betting heat for us for the week is the Nationwide event as we have established course and current form. Smith represents our first bet of the week mainly due to his course form - 5th here back in 97 he has also played the last 2 seasons with finishes of 17th and 5th again so clearly can handle the course well. He was 4th in the first NW event of the season and returned to a bit of form last week but its been a long time since he won so we will mainly go for the place. |

On the basis of his current form this might seem an odd pick but he is young and obviously couldn't cope with the different courses around the world - back at home in France we might well see a different result. He is a huge talent and having missed 3 years through injury came back last year to win the French Amateur, the Brabazon Trophy, he beat Rory McIlroy twice in matches and then was 3rd in an Alps Tour event in the Autumn. He also played here last season and led after round 1 before faltering in rounds 2 and 3 but bounced back with a 66 in round 4. Our main bet was going to be Gillis - hoping he would slip under the radar but the prices about the non winner are just way too short so we will go for a veteran in Damron who played so well here last year when 5th and only a poor 2nd round let him down. He putted really well here last year and that is a secret of his game - he plays well on courses he putts well so hopefully he will do what he did last year and lead the putting stats. This is one of those bets that we are a little unsure of - mainly because of the price - someone else clearly knew a bit about the Georgia Bulldog and the 125/1 at the Tote lasted seconds rather than minutes. Even at his age he has had to struggle with many injuries and also had LASIK surgery in December on his poor eyesight. Sorry to keep backing the same players but we have to go for Griffiths this week because of his excellent course form with a 5th on the Challenge Tour here in 04,two solid rounds in 05 and a 3rd placed finish last season which was very impressive after a poor 1st round. He has certainly shown some good signs over the last few weeks but this is the last chance saloon for him with us because if he can't do it here he won't do it anywhere. |

To be honest we were a bit gutted after last weeks performance as he got caught a bit by the weather but did play superbly for 2 days when he shot the lowest score of the day on both Friday and Sunday. We will give him another go this week as the bookmakers seem to have missed this fact and whilst his one appearance here was poor he was out of form and really his big hitting should be suited. |

We picked him a few weeks ago for Madeira and to be honest he was a big disappointment but he played a bit better last week in Spain so we will take a small risk. He has a great record in mainland Portugal with a 2nd in Portugal in 03 and a superb final round 64 took him to 8th on his only visit here in 05.
Last year on his great run on the Challenge Tour he was 4th in the event McGowan won next door so we will take one more chance with him. |
