Following the golf from Phoenix - had a couple of small bets in running - including a bit on Yang who has just joined the lead - but what interests me is his price for the Masters - as a Major winner last year 150/1 Ladbrokes really stands out - £40 ew 150/1 and £15 around 150 on the Fair without Woods
26 February 21.49
Just about over the Mancuso debacle - just one of those really unfortunate bizarre things that happens, hard to swallow when money is on the line but just think how Julie Mancuso feels - puts things into perspective!
Looking at Phoenix - nice to see Moulder and Rollins getting in the mix - had £35 at 70 on Gay once he started making a move today - more my sort of price for him!
24 February 21.43
I will save what I think of Mancuso in the Olympics until after the second run is finished although you can rest assured I am seething!
Looking at the Panama event on the Nationiwde tourI will have one pick - Patrick Sheehan. He was poor in his two starts on the other side of the globe missing both cuts though I am not too worried by that as he won on this tour last season having missed his previous two cuts. His only start here resulted in a second place in 2007 and his solid all round game is well suited to the course - £15 ew 80/1 and £10 ew 70/1.
I have had one other small bet on Betfair for the Phoenix - Andres Romero finished in the top five last time out and as a winner on the PGA tour shouldn't be 160/1 - £20
24 February 14.43
I was amazed how efficient at Skybets' customer service was this week - on Sunday night I won £2500 on Vanegas (£10 ew 200/1) and this morning I got the letter saying I could no longer phone bets through but would have to make do with poxy internet limits - a very quick turnaround indeed lol

23 February 14.21
Final bet for me for Phoenix - glutton for punishment - is Ricky Barnes (Double Trouble will be pleased lol). He disappointed at Pebble Beach but I won't give up him quite yet - the Scottsdale resident has played here only the once back in 04 when as a newly turned pro he was 4th going into the final round before stumbling a bit. His 10th at Riviera really was a good finish and I expect him to play well again - £15 top 5 28/1 and £30 top 10 14/1 including ties + £45 260 on Betfair. For the record I did get a few quid matched on players on Sunday whilst the final round took place at Mayakoba Stadler £17 350, Beckman £7 330.
I did a quick P&L for the year this morning - funny how I only feel like doing it after a winner!! - profit stands at £1415 for the year so definitely could do better - time to start work on the Nationwide Panama event - maybe some prices by tomorrow!

23 February 09.36
Woke up this morning to see how the Australian books had priced up Phoenix and was rather pleased to see Jonathan Byrd at 125/1 and duly had £40 ew - already took 140 on Betfair yesterday for £40 as well. He has been quietly progressive this season and can boast some decent course form - 7th in 06 and 2nd in 08 going into the final round. He had a couple of top five finishes last season and I think the 66/1 with a lot of books is more accurate.
22 February 21.17
Still got some more bets to put on for Phoenix but waiting to get matched so a few thoughts on bets so far. Brian Gay was top of my list this week but just couldn't pull the trigger at 40/1 (and even that is going quick) - I thought he had a huge chance in Hawaii at the Sony when 50/1 and he disappointed so I just can't bet him at the price - maybe in running!
John Rollins has some really good course form round Scottsdale including a runner-up slot in 07 and has been playing solid golf all season - he just needs to get a few more putts to drop and at 66/1 is worth a bet.
I think sometimes people have short memories - Bryce Molder was bang up there at Pebble Beach before he became one of the famous three to run up a nine on the back nine and to be honest he did well to par in and finish 10th. Last year he tended to maintain his form when he hit it and finished 4th at Congressional and 2nd at Southwind plus a 6th at nearby Grayhawk. That last finish wasn't a huge surprise as he knows the area well being a Scottsdale resident - 125/1 just seems a little on the big side to me.
22 February 19.18
Second bet for Phoenix goes to Bryce Molder - £20 ew 125/1 ,£25 top 5 25/1 and £10 on the 140 Betfair
22 February 18.14
Spent all day looking at the Phoenix form and have a short list of six to concentrate on but have made an early bet on one - John Rollins - the 66/1 at Ladbrokes is unlikely to last - £40 ew and £25 win 80 Betfair
21 February 22.59
A better day today - Vanegas wins convincingly in Columbia and Hayes by bogeying the last proves the beauty of betting with Extrabet where ties are paid in full finishing in a five way tie for 4th.
20 February 23.47
Big day tomorrow in the scheme of things - 200/1 shot Vanegas leads in Colombia - I actually learnt today that its his home club so will have lots of support - hopefully the pressure won't get to him. In the US Hayes retains his position and after a shaky start got back to within two of the lead to share second place - will find a few things to keep me busy during the day lol
19 February 23.24
Apologies for the quick post earlier re Mancuso but basically US skiers are having a great games and I had a look at the Womens GS - I think there could be a huge rick - Mancuso has won silver in downhill and combined so far - events tbh she hasn't performed well in of late - interestingly she is defending Olympic champion in the GS - an event again she hasn't done much in recently - but she has to be worth an interest at the prices - quite amusing how I had to spread the bets - but thems the limits lol
Bet365 £3 win 80/1 £8 top 3 30/1
Sportingbet £3 win 66/1
William Hill £4 win 50/1 £13 top 3 16/1
Boyles £10 ew 50/1
Betdaq £23 win 60/1
Talk about pathetic limits - so much for being one of the biggest betting events of the year!!
Anyway - looking at the golf - looking interesting at half way with JP Hayes sitting 2nd and tbh all the expected suspects are up there and in Colombia 200/1 shot Vanegas is 3rd just one shot back.
19 February 16.25
Quick post - I think books have made a mistake in the womens Giant Slalom on Julia Mancuso - take anything over 25/1 - more later
19 February 12.37
I was right to take on Vonn as she crashed out in the slalom - sadly so did Goergl but Mancuso managed silver again - she really is back to her best. In todays mens Super G I will take a risk on Michael Walchhofer - le leads the World Cup Super G rankings with finishes of 3/1/13/2 this season and have had £25 win 23/1 Betfair and £40 podium 5/1 Bwin
18 February 11.48
You would have thought with it being the Olympics books would be able to lay bigger bets than run of the mill skiing events - sadly not! Was also rather shocked to try and bet a skier on the phone with Betfred at their internet price of 16/1 but was only offered 10/1!
Anyway mini rant over - Womens Super Combined - would like to take on Vonn who might struggle with the slalom side with so little rest after the Downhill - will oppose her with the silver and bronze medalists from yesterday - if Mancuso is back to her best then she could challenge for gold - managed to get £10 win 25/1 and £35 podium 5/1. Also quite like Goergl who has been 3rd and 4th in the 2 World Cup SC's this season and won bronze at the World Ski Champs - £10 win 16/1 + £40 podium at Hills 11/4
17 February 21.37
Just noticed Stan James are late up with Colombia and go some big prices on the 4 I came out with Vanegas 200,Pinedo 150,BArbetti 125 and Amaya 100 - basically these 4 players were 3rd,4th,t5th,t5th in this event over this course last year.
17 February 13.45
Another quick five minutes grabbed - Allianz Championship - as it seems to be the year of the defending champion I think Mike Goodes is overpriced - especially as he has been 6th and 4th in the first two Champions events - £25 win 40/1 £50 7/1 top 5 and ties

16 February 18.17
For various reasons - internet problems - half term and kids home! have not had chance to write anything here so a quick post detailing bets so far this week
Mayakoba
Was lucky enough to get £20 matched at average Kev Stadler at 55 on Sunday night but wouldn't bet him at less than 40 tbh
J.P Hayes £20 ew 66/1, £100 win 65 Betfair, £50 top 5 ad ties 9/1 Extrabet
Challenge Tour Colombia
Amaya £15 ew 125/1
Barbetti £15 ew 125/1
Pinedo £15 ew 125/1
Vanegas £10 ew 200/1

14 February 10.53
Its Sunday and with no hope in any golf and the Winter Olympics skiing on hold life is dull and depressing - add to that Dodt wins in India - I had him as a similar profile to Prugh - couldn't back him at bookmaker odds but Betfair offered a bit of value considering current form - as is the way at the moment I backed one of them - Prugh!
So - have I geven the kiss of death to anyone in the AT&T - sadly yes and its probably a golfer who doesn't really need the kiss of death to make a mess of things - Greg Owen. He has been 3rd and 4th here before - in 07 he was in a very similar position to what he is now and it is interesting that in both times he placed he had no chance of winning being too far back from the leaders - so the top 5 on Betfair seems big at 17/1 - £35.
Next week looks like being pretty quiet to me (probably a good thing) as I hate betting in the World Matchplay Lottery Rollover - lets hope I find the winner of Mayakoba again!
13 February 22.58
Well it looks like being another crappy week on the golf - on the plus side Peoples provided a return by not bothering to start!! I have looked at the Avantha and it looks absolutely wide open with any number of possible winners - yet most are non winners. I cannot resist a small £25 at 42 on Thaworn Wiratchant who is a seasoned winner and indeed a co-sanctioned winner (sorry Mr Coleman - hope you aren't on!!)
12 February 12.09
Glad I went early for Dixon as he finished 2nd again in the Downhill training (although Cuche was DQ with a faster time having missed a gate) and I have added another Canadian as I am sure they will hold a massive advantage so £20 ew Erik Guay at 25/1.
The golf has again been poor and this game can be really cruel - backed Sung Lee to be first round leader yet in todays second round he shoots a joint lowest -7 - decided to have £25 on at average 110 in running as he was 2nd here in October.
10 February 22.33
Time for a bet in the WInter Olympics - Mens Downhill - first training run completed and no surprise to see Cuche lead and they might struggle with further training runs due to the weather so I will go with a guy with a huge amount of local knowledge on his local hill who has just finished 2nd in training - £20 ew 33/1 Robbie Dixon (Boyles,VC)
10 February 21.22
Not had too much spare ttime this week to write much up about bets - a few quick words - Prugh has had a fantastic Californina "swing" and he just seems a big price on Betfair and I have to have a small dabble on Peoples on his Champions tour debut in his own Florida backyard - Coral have actually gone 66/1 but I won't risk any more money.
My main interest revolves around Ricky Barnes - probably best known for his capitulation in last years US Open - although we have to remember he finished 2nd in a Major. For the rest of the season he did the square root of diddly squat but this season has seen him buckle down and make every cut with an improved performance every time culminating in last weeks 9th place. This is the area of Northern California where he grew up and interestingly his first taste of PGA golf came here in 2000 in the US Open and he has played this event plenty of times since plus a lot of his best performances on the Nationwide Tour came in his home state. His performances this year have seen a massive improvement on courses he hasn't done well on before so I really do think he will go well this week.
10 February 12.25
A quick post with the remaining bets for my week - will be back later with further thoughts and ramblings on them
AT&T - Alex Prugh £35 win 90 Betfair
Avantha - rd 1 leader - Muniyappa £15 ew 100/1,U Park £10 ew 150/1,Sung Lee £10 ew 150/1
Ace Classic - David Peoples £20 ew 60/1
9 February 15.37
I'd better put up my other outright bet for India as Bettingzone have also gone for him - Mukesh Kumar romped home last week in India and has some solid course form - £20 win 140 Betfair + £10 top 5 25/1 £20 top 10 10/1 & ties Extrabet

9 February 11.51
Adding to Jason Bohn in the AT & T is my biggest bet of the week - Ricky Barnes who I think is way overpriced - more reasons later but I have had
£100 win average 130 Betfair
£15 ew 125/1
£10 ew 110/1
£35 top 5 25/1
£35 top 10 10/1

9 February 11.19
I will probably curse my hesitation on Sunday night in not backing Bhullar when someone put up £80 at 50/55 on Betfair but I simply cannot back him at less than 40/1 so there is this weeks winner! Instead I will go for another promising young Indian player Anirban Lahiri who was runner up to Bhullar here in September and then was a fast finishing 3rd also on this course in the Asian event a month later - I got £25 ew at 100/1 and £10 win 110 - I have a few more plays in mind for India but will wait til I see the tee times.
8 February 20.54
JB Holmes brought some respite from the pain last week by finishing in the top 5 - shame Stan James wouldn't let me have the size of bet I wanted. I have one early bet for the AT &T this week on someone who I think will be cut - Jason Bohn was impressive for three rounds last week and could be said to have fond memories of Pebble Beach as he won the Callaway Beach Invitational back in 06 - £35 ew 125/1 and £35 average 165 on Betfair. I do have a few more to go this week but am waiting to get matched.
5 February 17.49
I think Jeev Singh is being very underestimated and have had another £30 at 75 - he was plagued by injuries last season which he has now recovered from and the trajedy of his wifes miscarriage has been somewhat eased with the birth of his first son last month
5 February 15.32
Its not been the best of starts to the golf this week (again!) but having just done my profit and loss for January all is not doom and gloom as I am only £80 down on the year thanks to Keith Horne and one good round!! I will try and put all my bets on here though sometimes I fail due to time restraints - this week I did have £25 on Kendall for a top 5 at 32 on Betfair just before the off and in Dubai I have added a couple of players after round two who are both on -4 - McDowell £20 50 on Betfair and Jeev Singh - £30 ew 50/1 1/5 4 and £10 65 plus in the Northern Trust a speculative £20 ew 125/1 on the veteran Michael Allen
3 February 11.38
An interesting bet for me in this weeks Moonah Classic is Martin Piller who played well on his seasonal debut last week when 7th in NZ on a course where he was 2nd last year. Interestingly he was 8th here on the tricky Moonah course and his game does seem suited to it - last week he was 5th for DA and 1st for GIR. His other top performance last year came at Stonebrae - a windy exposed course - maybe the Texan is bred to deal with these conditions! One other point - if you are looking for possible inspirational factors for Piller - last week his college room mate (and I believe travelling room mate) Robert Gates won on his Nationwide bow!! £50 ew 50/1 at all the Aussie books.
2 February 22.20
A few thoughts on Dubai - Bjorn in his prime loved Dubai and it showed in his results - having shown some form last week I wouldn't be surprised to see him go well this week but he is most likely to get off to a fast start. Donaldson had a good start to the season but was blown away by the wind in round one last week - he has gone well in round one before in Dubai with a 1st and 3rd so this is probably the best market to play in. As for Scott Strange - I have been trying to find out why he hasn't played the last two weeks to no avail so will take a punt that he is fit and ready to go - 7th on his first appearance here last season he can go well fresh - winning on his Asian tour debut in 05,7th Abu Dhabi 08 debut and his win in China last season came after a seven week break.
2 February 18.07
And adding a few more bets for Dubai - firstly round 1 leader - Jamie Donaldson £15 ew 125/1 and Thomas Bjorn - £6 ew 80/1 and £25 80 on Betfair - with Bjorn I have laso had a little £15 win at 140 Betfair as well. Plus on the outright - Scott Strange £45 win 110
2 February 12.10
A couple more picks for the Northern Trust both of whom have got good form at Riviera - KJ Choi - caught my eye last week - was the best player on show tee to green but struggled on the poor putting surfaces - was surprised to see 55 on Betfair yesterday and snapped up £100 and have just added £50 on a top 5 at 9/1. JB Holmes made a belated seasonal reappearance last week and played OK - although I am not a great fan the 125/1 at Stan James is too big - sadly max bet for me is £10 ew - would have liked to have doubled it but won't take any less.
1 February 20.53
One player who is bound to be popular this week is Charles Howell III who has started this season in great form and has superb course form including a win - if you can snap up any 50/1 do it tonight - I managed to get £40 ew and £25 at 50 on Betfair earlier
1 February 14.34
Sometimes I see a price and keep looking at it thinking its very wrong and I do think Dyson in Dubai is such a price - warming up slowly this season but he has a very good long term record at the Emirates course and clearly the books have forgotten his two wins in the second half of last season £60 ew 66/1 and £50 win 70 Betfair
